- Dr. Williamson has worked in health care, social services and public health addressing the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Florida and Arkansas.
- Her goals are to address the health equity of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through community-based participatory research approaches.
- In addition, she is also working to explore the provision of health and social services to best meet the needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as other underserved populations.

- Assisting on a needs assessment for the Northern Arizona Regional Behavioral Health Association identifying community assets and needs as well as strategic initiatives to address health equity in the northern Arizona region.
- Completing a content analysis and social network analysis of Twitter posts regarding the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The goal of the project is to identify the depth and scope of social media networks of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as social media serves as a resource for community inclusion.
- Exploring health and health resources for Native American adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities using a Photovoice approach.
- Identifying partners for a research project focused on addressing breast and cervical cancer screening for Native American women with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
