The 2018 – 2019 NAU Auditoria season is coming to a close, and what a year it has been. We are proud to host the many talented groups that graced our stages and we certainly are looking forward to many more.
Our biggest accomplishment involved the building of our new Kitt Recital Hall; it was a long anticipated project, and a long needed one. Not only do we now have a beautiful new space for patrons to visit, but the students of the NAU School of Music now have better classrooms to rehearse in as well as a new hall that provides three times the amount of performances for our Lumberjacks. Sincerely, all of us at NAU Auditoria would like to thank everyone who donated their money, time, and energy into providing this venue not only for the University, but also for the Flagstaff community as a whole.
As always, Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra brought six new Masterworks to Ardrey Memorial Auditorium. Some of their concerts featured work by Leonard Bernstein celebrating his 100th birthday, Broadway hits by request, and the annual Nutcracker. We are looking forward to their next set of Masterworks concerts in their 70th Season!
We had a plethora of NAU Band, Orchestra, and Choir concerts. The NAU Lyric Theater produced Men in Conflict and Light in the Piazza. We are proud of our students and the hard work the NAU School of Music puts in every year to provide quality entertainment for the Flagstaff community.
The State Street Ballet from Santa Barbara, California has never ceased to amaze. We were absolutely smitten with Cinderella and knew that we had to bring them back. Their production of The Jungle Book was a smash hit! Drama, humor, and daringly athletic choreography made this a consistently successful production, one that pleased audiences of all ages. We hope to have them back again soon!
From FSO, to Horizons, to State Street Ballet, to the NAU School of Music, we feel that NAU Auditoria had a wonderful year. Before the season is settled, and we take break for the summer, we would like to thank you, our patrons, for without every single one of you, none of this would be possible. Thank you for your continued support of the arts here in Flagstaff, and we cannot wait to see you all again for our exciting 2019 – 2020 season.
