Licensure
The Value of Licensure
Social workers are likely required to apply for licensure in order to work within this profession, especially if providing direct care to clients. Each state has its own requirements for the licensure process, however many include licensure at the associate and independent levels. Licensure establishes requirements to demonstrate specific competencies applied to practice settings as demonstrated through graduation from a CSWE accredited program. This requirement of licensure elevates social work as a professional practice.
