President’s Achievement and Diversity Awards

Dear Lumberjacks,

Every day, so many of our dedicated faculty and staff throughout the NAU community commit their time, talent, and energy to advancing our mission. Through the intentionality of their efforts, we are broadening participation, supporting student success, improving post-college outcomes, and meaningfully engaging with our communities.

As we engage in this important work, it is vital to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the people and groups who do so much to elevate our excellence.

This time each year, we recognize our distinctive excellence by nominating dedicated members of our NAU community for the President’s Achievement Awards and the President’s Diversity Awards. I encourage you to reflect on the work of your colleagues and shine a light on the individuals and groups that work every day to ensure NAU is the preeminent engine of opportunity, vehicle of upward mobility, and driver of social impact for Arizona and beyond.

President’s Achievement Award

This annual award recognizes staff whose performance exceeds NAU’s expectations, who demonstrate dedication to NAU’s vision, and who work with others to create community in the workplace. Any university employee may nominate candidates. This is an individual staff recognition and includes a ceremonial recognition and a cash award. Nomination forms and criteria can be found at nau.edu/PAA. Nominations can be emailed to PresidentialEvents@nau.edu. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, February 28.

President’s Diversity Awards

NAU is fortunate to have five diversity commissions, dedicated to promoting and supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) and the intersectionality that exists throughout our university community and beyond. The commissions are dedicated to advancing their individual missions and supporting one another, and collectively they play a central role in many important DEIJ-related efforts throughout NAU and in our communities. We recognize those efforts through the President’s Diversity Awards.

The President’s Diversity Awards recognize and honor outstanding service to the NAU community that furthers the mission of the respective commissions. In most cases, awardees can be faculty, staff, students, departments, organizations, or community members. The nomination deadline for all commission awards is Monday, February 20.
