Engaging University Students in Active Learning: Challenges and Opportunities
Over the past several decades, our understanding of how students learn has expanded. Active learning has emerged as an instructional strategy documented to improve the learning outcomes of all students. But what is active learning? How do we ensure that students are engaging in it? In this session, we will define active learning, discuss challenges to student engagement in active learning, identify techniques to overcome the challenges, and identify ways to assess and document student learning.
What to expect
A collaboration of NAU Online & Innovative Educational Initiatives and the Teaching and Learning Center. The symposium offers timely and relevant topics for all faculty, including Flagstaff Mountain, Online and Statewide.
We are honored to host keynote speaker: Claire Howell Major. Dr. Major is an author and teacher with more than three decades of teaching experience in higher education.
