Public Health HS Program approved electives
Last updated May 2018
The Program Approved Electives are an integral part of the Public Health Curriculum. They are designed to allow students a mechanism to further specialize in certain areas directly related to Public Health. These are NOT open or general electives. The list below includes all “pre-approved” courses to meet the required program approved electives in the Health Sciences Public Health Program.
- Students who have completed HS 402 as part of their Public Health curriculum must complete TWO courses on this list. At least one of the two HS approved electives must be upper-division (300- or 400-level).
- Students who have not completed HS 402, or do not have HS 402 in their curriculum must complete three courses on this list. At least two of the three HS approved electives must be upper-division (300- or 400-level).
Courses not on this list MUST be pre-approved in writing through the Health Sciences Department Curriculum Committee. Students who wish to apply courses not on this list as a Program Approved Elective should work with their advisor to seek approval. Typically, this should occur prior to course enrollment. Approval after enrollment or course completion will require additional rationale.
Please Note:
- A few of the courses below may have prerequisites that must also be taken to be eligible for enrollment. Please review the course catalog for the most up-to-date information.
- Not all classes are offered every semester. Please review the course catalog or contact your enrollment advisor when planning your schedule.
