NAU receives accreditation approval to launch a hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy program
Northern Arizona University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program received approval for an additional program with continued accreditation on October 31, 2023 from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. A hybrid, competency and entrustment-based education DPT program will launch its first cohort of students in January 2025 and is already accepting students for January of 2025. The hybrid DPT program joins NAU’s two residential DPT programs which are based at the Flagstaff campus and at the Phoenix Bioscience Core.
“We are proud to receive approval for our innovative, hybrid DPT program. At NAU, we know that graduate school can be expensive and disruptive, especially for students with families and other commitments. This option allows for students to stay in their communities, making it more accessible to people living in rural areas and for people of all backgrounds,” said Matthew Ford, Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training.
With accreditation in place, NAU will expand the number of graduates with a DPT degree annually, directly impacting the healthcare worker shortage facing the state of Arizona and the nation.
