Community health worker/representative visioning: Extended an impact in Arizona to improve health and well-being

Collaborating with partners across NAU, the College of Health and Human Services and the Honors College organized a visioning session for a Community Health Worker certification program at NAU. The aim was to engage with community partners and gather insights on the successful integration of CHW/R (Community Health Workers/Representatives) in organizations and the community. The session addressed areas of success, identified critical needs, discussed existing barters, and explored ways in which NAU can contribute to the development of pathways.

In a two-hour visioning session, community partners came together with NAU on Monday, January 22, 2024 to discuss the following three questions:

  • How/where have CHW/Rs worked well, where haven’t they worked as well in your organizations/communities?
  • In an ideal world (barriers aside!), what are your ideas for how CHS/Rs could further improve care for your patients?
  • What barriers stand in the way of your ideas working?

Themes are being summarized for summarizing and informing future conversations with community partners to occur in late February 2024
