Get involved in College of Arts & Letters clubs

Participating in clubs and activities is essential for experiencing college to the fullest. The College of Arts and Letters offers a wide range of clubs, and there is something for everyone to take part in and enjoy.

Check out some of the many clubs and organizations within each department that are available to CAL students!

If you love asking questions, get involved in philosophy!

Philosophy allows us to study great thinkers and become them ourselves. The NAU Philosophy Club facilitates student-led discussions and is open to all majors. This is a safe environment for anyone interested in having engaging conversations with other students.

Learn foreign languages and culture!

NAU offers a variety of clubs and language tables to help students communicate with each other and learn more about global cultures. These clubs provide a more relaxed setting to practice a foreign language, and you will be able to bond with students and staff who are interested in the same culture as you. Foreign exchange students often help with these language tables and can personally teach you about their culture. The GELL Center also provides conversation groups and fun events to help you get involved.

If you’re interested in studying abroad, NAU has over 500 programs to choose from in 76 countries!

Do you love to read and write? Join the English community!

The community of English lovers at NAU has a ton of clubs and organizations to choose from. The Thin Air literary magazine publishes original poetry, fiction, and visual art from professional writers and artists, and is run by grad student volunteers. There is also a book club where students can share their love for literature.

Learn about different cultures together!

The Art History Society is a great organization for all students who love art history. Additionally, the Museum Studies Club takes field trips to local institutions and has guest speakers to talk about their personal experiences in museums. These clubs will help you strengthen your relationship with the community and prepare for a career in cultural management.

If you’re an artist, join the NAU art community!

If you’re looking to connect with professional interior designers, the Interior Design Club helps students join design associations and share ideas. NAU also offers an Art Club and an Indigenous Art Society to get students involved with local events. These clubs are a fantastic way to make connections with other artists.

NAU also makes art more accessible through art galleries that showcase work by students and faculty!

Study history through exciting programs!

Studying history helps us understand context and perspective. The History Club provides a place for students to study and appreciate history. If you’re interested in history game nights, discussions, and archival films, this club is definitely for you.

Express yourself musically with ensembles!

Students of any major can join all ensembles through an audition process, except for the Marching Band and University Singers, which any student can register for. There are also many clubs available, including choral, a capella, and karaoke groups.

Run the stage with other thespians!

Arizona Playmakers is the oldest club on campus and is open to students who love all things theatre, including opportunities to participate in writing, directing, and performing. The club offers general meetings and improv practices every week, and both are open to students of all majors.

The best way to feel connected to your school is to get involved in it. Luckily, the College of Arts and Letters has many opportunities to help you build your community.
