2025 Teacher of the Year Emmett Burnton

Emmett Burnton (History BSED ‘15) was named Arizona’s Teacher of the Year award for 2025. For the past nine years, he has taught AP World History and U.S. History Dual Enrollment at Boulder Creek High School in Anthem. Joseph E. Shaffer III (MA ’86) and his wife Dr. Paula Kapp Greene recently published UNSUNG: Quiet Voices of the US Navy’s EOD Warriors and Their Families (Kindle Direct Publishing, 2022). They generously share 50% of the royalties from sales of the book with the Navy Special Operations Foundation and the EOD Warrior Foundation, both of which are 501(c)(3) non-profit foundations that support the families of the wounded and fallen EOD warriors in all four U.S. military services… Read more
