Dual Degree Program
NAU offers a bidirectional Dual Degree Program with the University of Bordeaux (UBx), allowing Biology and Geology majors at each institution to earn undergraduate degrees from both NAU and UBx. Graduating with degrees from both US and European institutions opens vast opportunities for students. As a result of this program, students will have access to international career opportunities including graduate school, research, internship, and employment around the world.
NAU to UBx Dual-Degree Programs
A 2+1+1 English track for Biology, Biomedical Science, and Microbiology majors where students spend their third year abroad at UBx taking Biology coursework in English.
A 3+1+1 French track for Interdisciplinary Global Programs (IGP) Biology, Biomedical Science, and Microbiology majors where students spend their fourth year abroad at UBx taking Biology coursework in French. Includes a third degree in French language from NAU.
A 3+1+1 French track for Interdisciplinary Global Programs (IGP) Geology majors is only available to IGP students where students spend their fourth year abroad at UBx taking Biology coursework in French. Includes a third degree in French language from NAU.
UBx to NAU Dual Degree Programs
NAU will receive UBx students for one year due to the bidirectional nature of this dual degree program.
A 3+1 English track in Biology where students spend their fourth year at NAU. Students must be nominated by a selection committee at UBx. Once admitted, students will complete NAU’s Exchange Student Application. At NAU, UBx students will take Biology writing, Biology Capstone, Ethnic Diversity, English, and Biology elective courses.
A 3+1 English track in Geology where students spend their fourth year at NAU. Students must be nominated by a selection committee at UBx. Once admitted, students will complete NAU’s Exchange Student Application. At NAU, UBx students will take Geologic Communications, Geology Capstone, English, Field Methods, and Geology elective courses.
NAU’s commitment to long-term study abroad opportunities, which contributed to NAU being 7th in the nation for long-term study abroad, played a role in supporting the establishment of this unique and rare bidirectional and international Dual Degree program. NAU’s formal partnership with UBx began in 2013 with an exchange agreement to support IGP students, building off the existing faculty research connections.
