President’s Diversity Awards

NAU is fortunate to have five diversity commissions dedicated to promoting and supporting diversity and inclusion and all the intersections that exist within diversity and inclusion work on campus. The Commission for Indigenous Peoples, the Commission on Disability Access and Design, the Commission on Ethnic Diversity, the Commission on the Status of Women, and the LGBTQIA Commission all work hard to meet their individual missions, while also supporting each other by co-hosting events and initiatives that meet the overall diversity and inclusion goals of all of the commissions. The commission co-chairs and members do this work on a volunteer basis in addition to their other employment and student responsibilities on campus. The diversity commissions have also played a central role in the development of NAU’s first comprehensive Diversity Strategic Plan (DSP). The DSP provides a solid foundation upon which to build and grow our already considerable efforts toward a diverse and inclusive campus.

The Center for University Access and Inclusion recognizes the outstanding work of this year’s Diversity Awards recipients. Every year, each of the commissions recognizes outstanding service to the NAU community that furthers the mission of the respective commission. Awardees are faculty, staff, students, and programs.
