Assistant Professor
Jupil Ko, PhD, ATC, is an Assistant Professor in the Athletic Training Program within the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. Dr. Ko earned his bachelor of science degree in athletic training from the University of Toledo in 2011 and a master of science degree in athletic training and biomechanics at the University of Georgia in 2013. In addition, he received his doctorate in kinesiology from the University of Georgia in 2016, where he majored in athletic training and biomechanics. His primary research area of interest is the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries with an emphasis on lower extremity musculoskeletal injuries. More specifically, his research focuses on the non-instrumented and instrumented postural stability measures related to selected musculoskeletal and neurological deficits. Two areas of research are: 1) to improve and develop postural stability assessment/evaluation techniques available to clinicians and researchers with minimal resources. 2) to improve and establish rehabilitation/management of postural control deficits (balance impairments) due to musculoskeletal and neurological deficits. My current research focus grew directly from the assessments and evaluations for postural control deficits by the non-instrumented assessments including functional performance tests and self-report questionnaires and the instrumented assessments including force-plate measures, electromyography, and biomechanical motion analysis in individuals with Chronic Ankle Instability (CAI).
