Myron Tsosie, BA Interdisciplinary Studies, ’16, decided to run for office after working in the K-12 education system. Myron won the election as District 7 AZ State Representative. He is now working on his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.

Lisan Scruggs, MA Education, ’87, passed away on September 15, 2012. Lisan worked as an educator for 30 years. She enjoyed being outdoors, traveling and spending time with friends.
Maxwell Pomeroy ’11
Maxwell Pomeroy, BS Engineering, ’11, passed away on December 1, 2018. He was born in Midland, TX and grew up in Colorado. Maxwell had been living in California where he was working for the last seven years.
Saul Hedquist ’07
Saul Hedquist, MA Social & Behavioral Sciences, ’07, passed away on November 4, 2018. Saul grew up in Des Moines, IA and had a love for culture, anthropology and history. After receiving his degree from NAU, he obtained his PhD from the University of Arizona where he researched focused on the cultural significance and uses of turquoise to prehistoric and contemporary Pueblo peoples. Saul had two children with Leigh, his wife. He enjoyed running, sports, music and the outdoors.
Mary Sweeney ’70
Mary Sweeney, MA Arts Education, ’70, passed away on May 12, 2018. Mary served as the Science Department Chair and science teacher at Casa Grande Union High School. She was honored to have been named the “Arizona Biology Teacher of the Year” and had a love for teaching students to enjoy science. After retiring, Mary enjoyed quilting, painting and making jewelry.
Kenneth Wix ’86
Kenneth Wix, BS Arts and Sciences, ’86, passed away on October 20, 2018. After completing his degree, he worked in the insurance industry and met his wife, Donna. Kenneth was an avid supporter of his children’s sports team and enjoyed time spent with his family.
