Western Undergraduate Exchange Program
Giving out-of-state students a price within reach at NAU
Did you know that certain out-of-state students are eligible to receive a reduced tuition rate at Northern Arizona University?
With the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Program, students who meet the university’s admission criteria and live in one of 14 Western states can receive a tuition rate that is about 40% less than NAU’s out-of-state tuition. This is a reciprocal arrangement between WUE states designed to allow students access to programs that may not be available in their states.
Are you eligible for the WUE Program?
To be eligible, you must be a resident of one of these states or territories:

WUE Eligibility
All students are evaluated for eligibility during the admissions process – a separate application is not needed. Eligible students will receive the WUE tuition rate upon admission and subsequent submission of required Proposition 300 Citizenship Verification documentation. Check LOUIE for the documentation due date. The WUE tuition rate applies only to fall and spring semesters.
Students accepted into our Flagstaff nursing or dental hygiene programs with a fall 2018 or later program start are now eligible for our reduced WUE tuition rate. Upon completion of prerequisites, an additional application is still required for these highly competitive programs. See nau.edu/nursing or nau.edu/dentalhygiene for details.
