2017-18 Transfer Tuition Scholarships

General Criteria Required of All Transfer Scholarships

Students must meet Arizona Prop 300: Public Program Eligibility Requirements. All Transfer Tuition Scholarships can be used for a student's first baccalaureate degree only. Tuition scholarships do not cover fees or other expenses and are non-refundable. 

Reinstatement: If you have circumstances preventing you from meeting the renewal requirements, submit a ScholarshipReinstatement Request by the priority deadline for the applicable semester. Submitting this request does not guarantee your scholarship will be reinstated.

Education Abroad and Student Exchange: NAU tuition scholarships can be applied toward tuition for most education abroad and exchange programs. These scholarships cannot be used for faculty-led or provider programs. Contact us if you are considering studying abroad or participating in an exchange program.

Individual Scholarships

In addition to the above criteria, students must meet the individual criteria defined for each scholarship.

Jack’s and Louie’s Transfer Student Awards

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be an Arizona resident (Jack’s) or non-resident (Louie’s) student transferring to NAU Flagstaff (up to $4000) or Community Campuses (up to $2000).  Students transferring into NAU online programs are not eligible for the awards.
  • Be admitted as a transfer student.
  • Enroll as a full time student
  • For fall semester admission, submit FAFSA by February 1stand accept offer of admission by May 1st
  • For spring semester admission, have submit FAFSA and accept offer of admission by December 1st
  • Meet need-based criteria as determined from FAFSA

Renewal criteria:

  • Renewable for one additional year with continuous enrollment
  • Maintain 3.00 NAU CUM GPA
  • Earn 30 credits hours in first academic year of award
2NAU Scholarship

This scholarship is available for students who participated in a community college 2NAU program.

Award Amount: $2000 per year

Availability: Two consecutive major terms (fall and spring semesters only; summer and winter terms are excluded).

How to Apply/Deadline: Check with your 2NAU representative at your respective partner college or contact extended.campuses@nau.edu.

2NAU Eligibility Requirements:

  • Have completed at least one term in 2NAU, can apply in second term of 2NAU program
  • Have at least 45 transferrable credit hours accepted at NAU 
  • Have 3.00 cumulative transfer GPA
  • Accept offer of admission by May 1st
  • Enroll as a full-time student

Renewal Criteria:

  • Renewable for one additional year with continuous enrollment
  • Maintain 3.00 NAU CUM GPA
  • Earn 30 credits hours in first academic year of award

Multiple scholarship awards: This scholarship can be combined with other tuition scholarships as long as it does not exceed the cost of resident tuition.

Pre-2017-2018 criteria:

Eligibility:

 

  • Must have been admitted to the 2NAU Joint Admission program having completed 30  hours or less from any higher education, accredited institution, that are applicable to a bachelor’s degree, at the time of application to the 2NAU program, and have successfully transitioned to NAU to pursue a bachelor’s degree  Must have been an active participant in the 2NAU Joint Admission program while at the community college ( i.e. completing at least 6 hours that are applicable to a bachelor’s degree each term, and meeting with a 2NAU Coordinator each term).     
  • Must have completed an associate’s degree at a partner college in fall 2010 or later, with a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average and currently be enrolled in their first full-time semester at NAU.  The scholarship is not available to a student who later earns an associate’s degree through reverse transfer.
  • Must attend NAU the subsequent major term following the completion of the associate’s degree.
  • Must be an Arizona resident and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and provide documentation of lawful presence as described under Arizona's Proposition 300.

 

Renewal criteria:

The award is renewable and can be used for up to a total of two consecutive semesters provided:

 

  • Recipient maintains at least a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) at NAU.
  • Recipient has successfully completed 12 credit hours during their first term at NAU.
  • Recipient is enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) in their second term at NAU.

 

Arizona Academic Decathlon Scholarship

Award Amount: $2,000 per academic year

Availability: Up to four consecutive years, fall and spring semesters only, provided the student meets the renewal criteria each year. Number of semesters/years is contingent upon academic level when student transfers to NAU. 

How to apply: The Arizona Academic Decathlon Association selects the recipients.

Deadline: Priority is given to students who submit their application by Aug. 1 for fall and Dec. 1 for spring.

Selection: Participation in the Arizona Academic Decathlon – either regional or state – for two or more years is required.

Eligibility: Arizona residents only

Renewal Criteria:

  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must complete 30 credits every academic year

Multiple scholarship awards: This scholarship can be combined with the President’s, Dean’s or Merit scholarships as long as it does not exceed the cost of tuition.

All Arizona Academic Team Scholarship

Award Amount: 100 percent of resident tuition

Availability: Ten consecutive undergraduate semesters or 60 credits, fall and spring semesters only, provided the student meets the renewal criteria each year

How to apply: The Arizona Board of Regents selects the recipients from nominations provided by Arizona community colleges. Contact your community college for details.

Deadline: Student must begin attending NAU within one year of the award offer.

Selection: The Arizona Board of Regents selects students from nominations made by Arizona community colleges. Nominations are based on outstanding academic performance and community service.

Eligibility: Arizona residents only

Renewal Criteria:

  • Maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA
  • Be enrolled at least half-time

Multiple scholarship awards: This scholarship can be combined with other tuition scholarships as long as it does not exceed the cost of resident tuition.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship

Award Amount: Arizona residents: $500 per academic year. Non-residents (including WUE): $5,000 per academic year.

Availability: Two consecutive years, fall and spring semesters only, provided the student meets the renewal criteria each year 

How to apply: Complete the PhiTheta Kappa Scholarship Application. Attach verification of PTK membership and submit community college unofficial transcripts to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Deadline: Priority is given to students who submit their application by Aug. 1 for fall and Dec. 1 for spring.

Selection: Must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa, currently attending a two year college, and transferring to NAU (no break in enrollment between schools)

Eligibility: Arizona residents and non-residents

Renewal Criteria:

  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Complete 12 credit hours per semester

Multiple scholarship awards: This scholarship can be combined with other tuition scholarships as long as it does not exceed the cost of resident tuition.
