Two professors from the School of Communication—Rich Rogers and Rodrigo de Toledo—were elected to tenure-track positions on the Faculty Status Committee, which regularly evaluates faculty members applying for promotions or tenure. Rogers will serve a three-year term, and de Toledo will serve a two-year term.
Astronomy and planetary science graduate student Amelia Ascione earned the Lunar and Planetary Institute’s Career Development Award at the 2025 Lunar and Planetary Science Conference. Award recipients, who must submit a research abstract in which they are the first author, are selected through a competitive review process completed by a panel of planetary scientists.
Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science alumni Lonnie Dausend and Audrey Martin joined professor Joshua Emery to write the paper “Measuring the Effects of Regolith Porosity on Mid-IR Spectra of the Allende Meteorite,” published in The Planetary Science Journal. The research uses Allende meteorite samples of varying particle sizes and mid-infrared spectroscopy to potentially improve the likelihood of accurately linking meteorite samples to their parent asteroids.
NAU was one of eight Arizona colleges and universities to be recognized by the Fair Elections Center’s Campus Vote Project and NASPA as a “Voter Friendly Campus” in 2025. To earn this designation, campuses must submit a plan for promoting democracy and engaging students ahead of the general election and a report detailing the results of this plan’s implementation.
