Undergraduate Negotiation Competition

Competition details

What is the National Undergraduate Negotiation Competition?

As the only negotiation competition specifically for universities to compete with teams of undergraduate students, we focus on building negotiation skills among future business leaders. Student teams engage in realistic business negotiation role plays with other student teams. Following each round, our accomplished judges provide valuable feedback. Our goals are to facilitate learning, emphasize negotiation skills, and build self-confidence by connecting students from students with other universities, business professionals, and negotiation experts. These skills are essential in multiple business situations and will facilitate furthering the students’ careers.

The competition format is four rounds of role plays. Each team consists of two students from the same university who compete against teams from randomly assigned universities from across the world. An alternate may be available to substitute for one of the students as needed. Each round consists of realistic scenarios that employ challenging negotiation and conflict resolution elements. Finally, our panel of accomplished judges determines the teams from the initial rounds that will advance to the finals. Each round includes approximately 35 minutes of role-play and feedback from the judges.

Our next competition will be held in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 5th–6th, 2024. A $100 registration fee will reserve your spot for the in-person competition. All teams who travel to the competition will receive complimentary hotel accommodations.
