NAU–Yuma Social Work students doing homeless outreach along the U.S-Mexico Border. Individuals experiencing homelessness were provided with backpacks containing essential hygiene items and resource cards with contact information for different healthcare clinics. The students also conducted brief surveys on each participant to determine how they’ve been impacted by Covid-19 and what their barriers to resources are. Great job, students… Read more

NAU–Yuma Social Work Student Awarded Ruth E. Brasher Endowment Fellowship

Wonderful news often come to those who work hard, focus on their hopes-turned-dreams-turned goals. That’s what happened to Kimberley Kern, a recent graduate from the Northern Arizona University Yuma Branch Campus BASW program. Kimberley is the recipient of the Ruth E. Brasher Endowment Fellowship, offered by Phi Kappa Phi. There are 58 fellowships awarded each year, and only one came to the state of Arizona – and that came to our own Kimberley Kern… Read more

Born in East Los Angeles, CA, 64 year old Angelina Sosa (Angela) received the Golden Key International Honor Society award. She received this award due to her high grades and academic achievements. She’s currently in her 2nd semester at NAU-Yuma and is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Social Work.
