New Business Professor at NAU–Yuma Shares Background, Interests and Kindness

New assistant teaching professor in the Department of Business and Administration at NAU–Yuma.

Please join us in welcoming Mary Fisher, assistant teaching professor in the Department of Business and Administration at NAU–Yuma, who began teaching Supply Chain and Logistics Management courses as well as a Statistics for Management course this fall semester.

She holds several academic degrees earned in different countries:  A PhD in Business from the University of Greenwich in London, England; an MSc in International Business from Salford University in Manchester, England; and bachelor’s in economics from Anadolu University in Eskisehir, Turkey.

Prior to teaching at NAU–Yuma, Fisher was an associate professor/department chair/program quality leader for the International Business Department at Northwood University in Midland, Michigan.

Coming from a family with several businesses, and having grown up in the business world, she says she naturally chose business as a field to study, to practice and to teach.

Fisher’s hobbies and interests include technology and creativity. She enjoys playing computer games and learning programming, as well as knitting, crocheting, needlework, beading and accessory making.

Speaking of technology, her husband, David is a database manager, and she says, “I probably have the kindest hearted person as my spouse.”

Kindness seems to be one of her own traits as well, as evidenced by these words that she always says to her students: “This is the land of the liberty. You can be anything you want. You be kind… always.”

To inspire and encourage current and potential NAU–Yuma students, Fisher shares this quote by Zig Ziglar: “If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you.  If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.”

She can be reached at Mary.Fisher@nau.edu.
