Job title and brief description
Visual Brand Manager: my role is to help strengthen and elevate the university’s overall brand presence and impact. Where are you located?
I live in Flagstaff and have lived here for almost 19 years.
Can you tell us about a hobby or pastime outside of work, and what draws you to it?
I’ve always enjoyed art and using my hands to create things. Lately I’ve been doing a lot of paper-based craft projects, mainly greeting/birthday card creation, but am in the process of teaching myself stitch book binding and am creating notebooks and sketchbooks.
What’s one book you’ve read or movie you’ve watched recently that had a significant impact on you, and why did it resonate with you?
The movie Whale Rider. I think it’s a beautiful film that shows that even in the face of rejection it is possible to assert yourself and create an identity of your own.
Share a fun or unusual fact about yourself that most colleagues might not know.
I watch more Asian TV shows than I do American ones.
If you could travel to any destination in the world, where would you go and why?
The number one thing on my bucket list is to visit Egypt. I’ve always been fascinated with ancient Egyptian culture and would love to see the pyramids and sphinx.
What’s your go-to way to unwind and de-stress after a busy day at work?
Walking my dog!
Can you share a memorable personal achievement or milestone you’re proud of, unrelated to your job?
This one is a little silly, but I do not have a green thumb and can’t keep plants alive for long, usually. I currently have two plants that I have managed to keep alive for over a year now and they are thriving. I am very proud of myself!
What do you love about NAU?
I love the community and how open and accepting people are here.
