Childcare Voucher Program
If you are a student parent, you may be eligible to receive an award to help cover the cost of childcare. The Childcare Voucher Program makes quality childcare more accessible and affordable for student parents so they can concentrate on their studies and graduate on time. Funds are available for qualifying undergraduate, graduate, online, and community campus students. To qualify, students must be enrolled in at least 3 credits, be eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and use an approved childcare provider.
How it Works
The voucher program provides parents with an award amount per week per child, depending on demonstrated financial need and number of credits enrolled. Applications can be submitted throughout the academic year (in fall, spring, and summer terms), but voucher awards are dependent upon available funds. Applicants are notified of their award status via email, and those who are awarded vouchers receive a letter that they are responsible for submitting to their childcare provider. Providers are expected to invoice the NAU Childcare Voucher Program each month. Parents are responsible for all deposits, registration fees, and purchases of consumable items, such as diapers and formula. Once a student is awarded a childcare voucher, it continues throughout the academic term, unless the student’s enrollment status changes. A change in enrollment status could affect the amount of the childcare voucher.
Students are encouraged to explore other helpful resources throughout the Flagstaff community and NAU. Some of these resources include on-campus housing, WIC, DES programs, and tribal care programs. Vouchers may be used along with other forms of childcare assistance.
