Educate students to serve, lead, and achieve

Example strategies:

  • Deliver a suite of academic programs and delivery methods in ways to meet current, emerging, and anticipated educational needs
  • Customize recruitment strategies under a unified admissions process for modes of delivery and campuses
  • Enhance pathways for transfer students
  • Maintain affordability through continued tuition differentiation, guaranteed tuition rates, financial aid optimization, and student employment opportunities
  • Optimize statewide online and competency-based learning options
  • Further the higher education pipeline through resource centers and college preparation opportunities

Example strategies:

  • Implement, refine, and support teaching methods that reflect best practices within each discipline
  • Develop and deploy current and rigorous curricula
  • Offer opportunities that develop a rich interdisciplinary perspective on life that complements the focused disciplinary capabilities
  • Engage students in educational opportunities that extend beyond the classroom to encourage skill development that aligns with student academic preparation and career goals
  • Promote an education that recognizes the importance of local, national, and global diversity

Example strategies:

  • Identify key predictors of retention and align programs and services to meet student needs in conjunction with attainment of academic and retention milestones
  • Expand the use of predictive analytics to inform timely and coordinated advising, support, outreach, and communications to students at all levels
  • Provide and cultivate student use of services, activities, and events that enhance students’ academic, cultural, and social development
  • Optimize the use of accessible and innovative technology that enhances students’ planning for degree completion pathways
  • Expand a culture of customer service throughout all offices serving students
  • Advance programs for active, engaged, and experiential learning
  • Enhance opportunities for work experience to encourage skill development that aligns with student academic preparation and career goals
  • Offer students meaningful ways to engage with alumni to help prepare them for graduation and successful careers
  • Support student wellbeing through promotion of engagement in wellness activities and resources

  • Increase enrollment, opportunities, and graduation rates across all diverse student groups as those are defined by the Diversity Strategic Plan
  • Foster diverse students’ sense of belonging by building a supportive community in and out of the classroom
  • Build a strong foundation for Hispanic Serving Institution status
  • Provide students with culturally relevant mentoring, leadership, career development, and enriching co-curricular activities
  • Advance policies and practices oriented toward student veteran success
  • Increase international student enrollment, engagement and program completion
