It’s been a great year for SES grad student research in the area of water science and conservation! Recently announced 2020 CAP Awards for Water Research went to Environmental Sciences & Policy grad Mary Samar for her thesis On the precipice of transition: water, crops and adaptation in Pinal County, Arizona and Geology grad Riley Swanson for his thesis Quantifying the base flow of the Colorado River: its importance in sustaining perennial flow in northern Arizona and southern Utah. Current Geology graduate student Keegan Donovan was also awarded the John W. Hess Research Grant in Karst Studies by the Karst Division of the Geological Society of America (GSA).
