Dr. Chrissina Burke, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology, has been named the 2019 Teacher of the Year in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Burke has introduced thousands of students to archaeology and biological anthropology, recruiting many into the anthropology major because of her dynamic teaching, commitment to student success, and individual mentoring. She has quickly rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer, and now serves as the department’s Undergraduate Program Coordinator. Dr. Burke is a Teacher-Scholar, who excites students by giving them research experience in her field of zooarchaeology and who researches and develops new teaching techniques to meet the needs of her students.
