Residence hall student positions
Desk Manager (DM) – Closed Accordion Closed
Desk Managers provide oversight for front desk operations and provide supervision to Desk Assistants and Summer Housing Assistants while working closely with the Residence Hall Director of the building. Federal Work-Study Eligible students are encouraged to apply.

Desk Assistant (DAs) – Closed Accordion Closed
We are excited that you are interested in applying for the Desk Assistant position. Please take note that we have received a high volume of applicants, from this pool offers have been made and most positions have been filled. We are still accepting applications throughout the 2019-2020 academic year, but encourage you to consider applying to other positions.
Desk Assistants (DAs) are hired to work in each Residence Hall specifically to manage front desk operations. DAs will work evenings and weekends at various Residence Halls. Hiring for the position is determined by a student’s availability to fill the necessary hours needed to cover at anyone of our 16 Residence Hall front desks.
A DA will provide excellent customer service by answering telephones, questions, maintaining hall supplies, checking out vacuums, packages, and other resources provided by the front desk. DAs can be either Federal Work Study or Student Wage.
Both types of DA wages are balanced at each front desk and this balance determines the number of hours available for each type of DA to work in a week. Hiring and supervision of DA is managed and trained directly by a Desk Manager. Federal Work-Study Eligible students are encouraged to apply.
Students will be notified through email to accept or decline the position by August 19.
With the exception of Freshmen students who apply, all students who are not freshmen must be in good conduct standing with the university and have a 2.5 GPA to apply.
Freshmen who apply, grade checks will be conducted at the end of the semester and the student must be in good conduct standing with the university to maintain employment throughout the semester.
All complete applications that meet qualifications will be considered. Should a student not initially receive an offer for the position they can keep their application active in the event a position becomes available. This position will be open throughout the fall semester.

Community Development Assistant (CDA) – Open Accordion Closed
Community Development Assistants work in the Community Development Center (CDC) the supply and craft resource space for student leaders within the residence halls. Residence Life Support Services (RLSS) Summer – Open Accordion Closed
Residence Life Support Services (RLSS) summer employees provide support for Housing and Residence Life Summer Staff and Facilities Services teams, servicing 22 on campus residential halls – preparing them for fall opening as well as support for Camps and Conferences and other campus summer programs.
RLSS is located on South Campus in building 98F. We are open Monday – Friday 8am-5pm. We offer full and part time summer employment with flexible hours up to 40 hours per week. Our shifts are designed in 4-hour increments: 8am-Noon, 1pm-5pm. Our employees work in small teams providing reliable deliveries and services to the campus community.

Moving and Extraction work team – replacing broken furniture (chairs, desks, refrigerators), delivering and installing student space furniture to various halls, maintaining the warehouse inventory and fleet vehicles. This team is also trained in the operation of industrial extraction equipment for unoccupied student room spaces and hall public space furniture.
Linen and Cleaning work team – operates industrial laundry equipment in two locations, processes and delivers linen orders to the warehouse, storage areas and various locations on campus serving camps and conferences. This team also cleans several hall community rooms, public space furniture and warehouse inventory.
Inventory Management and Administrative work team – inventory and evaluate all areas of our residence halls, accessing and reporting damage, wear and tear, creating and following up on work orders for necessary repairs. Oversee the warehouse inventory during placement of case goods. Receive and evaluate shipments. Receive, inventory and manage lost and abandoned property in compliance with policy. This team will also assist with RLSS duties within summer projects and provide coverage for the RLSS front desk and botany.
All positions – Provide excellent customer service to residents/guests and campus partners. Conduct detailed team walkthroughs of every NAU residence hall to assess and report building-wide readiness for fall opening. All employees are cross-trained to serve in all capacities.
All necessary training for all positions / duties is provided.
Standard hours of operation are Monday – Friday 8AM- 5PM. Summer work shifts are 8:00am-Noon, 1pm-5pm. Some Saturday volunteer hours are available. Students need to work at least 16 hours per week.
Summer housing may be available at no cost for full time employees and at a reduced cost for part time employees. Indicate interest in on campus housing during your application process. Restrictions apply.

Front Desk/Operations Assistant – Closed Accordion Closed
The Housing and Residence Life Front Desk/Operations Assistant position provides support to the housing operations staff, responsible for processing housing applications, monitoring housing assignments, and placing housing charges on student LOUIE accounts for residents at NAU. This position includes Housing and Residence Life representation at: Discover NAU, NAU Orientation, #NAUSaidYes. Residence Life Office Assistant greets and welcomes students, staff and visitors while providing quality in person and telephone customer service. Must be able to multi-task and use critical thinking skills while maintaining an organized clean work space. General administrative knowledge including use of office equipment, maintaining inventory of office supplies, creating forms and maintain protocols. As a student videographer and photographer you will work with your supervisor and other students on creating compelling and professional video projects that are used for a variety of recruitment or educational processes within Housing and Residence Life (HRL). You will take part in developing a concept, creating shot lists, producing, shooting and editing videos and photos that will be used on the HRL website and on YouTube. As part of this role, individuals are expected to learn and explore new skills and creative styles, improve the production quality, and maintain the NAU brand standards.
Student Graphic Designer and Photographer – Open Accordion Closed
As a student graphic designer and photographer, you will work with your supervisor and other students on creative and informative communications for a variety of events and hall programs within Housing and Residence Life (HRL). You will be expected to meet with project leaders (clients), create concepts, proofs and final high-quality, print ready designs. You will also find yourself improving on existing photography skills while documenting key events and updating hall specific website photos.
