Student employment important information

Information to know before applying

Don’t forget your IDs

Please note that if hired, you will be required to provide proof of identification to complete the I-9 form. Be sure to bring documentation with you to Flagstaff if you are planning to apply for a position. You can find acceptable forms of identification on the Department of Homeland Security’s Lists of Acceptable Documents (pg. 9). The most common types of identification are either a current passport OR a social security card and photo ID. Only original ID documents can be used, copies or faxes will not be accepted. Always keep identification documentation in a safe location!

How many hours can I work as a student employee with Housing and Residence Life?

Available hours in each position will vary. While school is in session, student employees cannot work more than 30 hours a week and international student employees cannot work more than 20 hours a week. During the summer, students not taking classes can work up to 40 hours (this also applies to international students). This is universally messaged through handshake.
