Preparing for your arrival to campus
In late summer, an email will be sent to incoming residents about move in. Residence Halls will officially open on Thursday, August 22 with early move-in dates for specially approved groups such at Orientation.
Selecting your arrival time
All residents must schedule a move-in appointment for their arrival. This ensures a smooth and positive move-in experience for all, and reduces traffic congestion on campus.
Beginning early August, log back into the housing portal to select your arrival time from one of the designated move-in dates.
What to expect at your arrival time
Move-in appointments are 20 minutes in length. Plan to arrive at the beginning of your appointment and print your move-in appointment confirmation to display on your vehicle’s dashboard. If you are not arriving in a personal vehicle, bring the printed confirmation with you.
Review the directions to your hall’s designated garage/lot (self-service) or unloading zone (full-service). Your building and the time of your appointment will dictate where you should unload. Download the move-in map to assist you in arriving at your scheduled time.
Full-Service Move In
Student volunteers known as “Welcome Jacks” will be onsite to assist freshmen with unloading and bringing belongings to your room at designated peak times noted on the move-in calendar. If you would like Welcome Jack assistance, select an arrival time within the timeframes noted above.
Freshmen who choose a move-in appointment during Welcome Jack assisted times should plan to use the designated unloading zones. The unloading zones are staffed by police and parking personnel specifically during move in to aid with the process. The number of available spots in each unloading zone corresponds with the number of available move-in appointments offered at each arrival time. Plan to move your vehicle to a designated parking garage or lot after unload your belongings.
Self-Service Move In
Freshmen who choose a move-in appointment outside of times where there is Welcome Jack assistance and Upper Division residents should plan to park in a parking stall within the designated garage or lot for their community. Unloading zones are not available outside of designated times and parking in these areas can result in a ticket. Please make sure to follow all University parking regulations during move-in and throughout the year.
You will need your JacksCard to check into your residence hall at your scheduled move-in appointment.
If you do not yet have a JacksCard, please arrange to stop first at the JacksCard office to obtain your card prior to your move-in appointment. Make sure you have submitted your photo online prior to arriving.
