Preparing for your arrival to campus
In late summer, an email will be sent to incoming residents about move in. Campus living communities (CLCs) will officially open on Thursday, August 25 with early move-in dates for specially approved groups.
Move-in Steps:
Step 1: Prepare for move in Accordion Closed
Review the information in our Preparing for Move-in page where you will find the what to bring list. Consider also learning about Renter’s Insurance to protect your belongings. Then visit University Transit Services and learn about why you may not actually want to bring your car.
Step 2: Schedule move-in appointment Accordion Closed
Beginning in early August, log back into the housing portal to select your arrival time from one of the designated move-in dates. All residents must schedule a move-in appointment for their arrival. This ensures a smooth and positive move-in experience for all, and reduces traffic congestion on campus.
Step 3: Move to campus! Accordion Closed
When checking in to your hall you will need the move-in appointment barcode from the housing portal. Move-in appointments are 40 minutes in length. Plan to arrive at the beginning of your appointment and print your move-in appointment confirmation to display on your vehicle’s dashboard. If you are not arriving in a personal vehicle, bring the printed confirmation with you. You will be able to check out a blue bin to help move belongings if needed (blue bins measure 38”x33”x32”)
Be sure that you have a parking permit and are following all parking rules and regulations if you will have your car on campus.
Welcome Jacks assisted move in
Student volunteers known as “Welcome Jacks” will be onsite to assist freshmen with unloading and bringing belongings to your room at designated peak times noted on the move-in calendar. If you would like Welcome Jack assistance, select an arrival time within the timeframes noted above.
Freshmen who choose a move-in appointment during Welcome Jack assisted times should plan to use the designated unloading zones. The unloading zones are staffed by police and parking personnel and are limited specifically to fall move in for a smoother process. The number of available spots in each unloading zone corresponds with the number of available move-in appointments offered at each arrival time. Plan to move your vehicle to a designated parking garage or lot at the conclusion of your 40-minute move-in appointment.
Please note that unloading zones are only available when staffed. Parking in these zones when they are not staffed may result in a fine.
Additional move-in details
If you have a change in your schedule, please reschedule your move-in day/time through the housing portal.

- Always ensure cars are parked in between designated stall lines (two white lines).
- Parking is not permitted in fire lanes, disabled stalls, service vehicle stalls, pedestrian walkways or bus lanes.
