Academic Pathways and Workforce Development

From education to employment

Academic Pathways and Workforce Development are independent and integrated core initiatives at Northern Arizona University focused on bridging the gap between education and employment by creating clear, structured pathways for students that lead to rewarding careers.

Partnerships for career-ready graduates

We build vibrant partnerships with industry leaders, educational institutions, and community organizations to create seamless academic pathways for transfer students. These pathways lead to high-demand careers, all while allowing students to stay close to home and contribute to their local communities. Through our collaborative workforce training and academic programs, students can upskill or earn new credentials, achieving their academic and career goals. Together, we empower individuals to drive local economic growth and community development.

NAU’s is making a significant impact across the state by tailoring a unique and optimized portfolio of academic programs that align with labor market demands. Through workforce research, regional demand analyses, and strong industry partnerships, we are constantly exploring new ways to serve our communities by offering the most relevant academic programs.

Furthermore, we offer alternative pathways to its programs through partnerships with organizations and businesses that sponsor their employees to earn academic credentials and advance their careers. We also provide continuing education opportunities, including industry training, career and technical education, and professional development for licensure attainment, giving working professionals the chance to upskill and grow.
