Global Learning for All

Study beyond borders

The “Global Learning for All” initiative provides a wide range of global learning and intercultural experiences so that every NAU student, regardless of their academic discipline or whether they can travel or not, can participate in these transformative global learning experiences.

Global opportunities for every student

In collaboration with all academic departments and colleges, as well as international partners, we provide the following global and intercultural experiences for NAU students:

  • Faculty-led study abroad programs that provide high-impact global learning experiences for students that are integrated into course and program curricula. Each year, NAU faculty organize around 40 programs across academic disciplines in over 20 countries.
  • The International Exchange program offers engaging yet affordable opportunities for students to study in a partner university for a semester or a year. NAU’s long-term study abroad participation ranks No. 8 among doctoral degree granting institutions in the U.S.
  • NAU’s award-winning Interdisciplinary Global Programs represents the most rigorous global learning opportunities at NAU. In this program, students earn two degrees (one language degree and one STEM or Business or Psychology degree). Students spend a year abroad with at least one semester’s internship or research abroad.
  • The Global Research & Internship Program (GRIP) utilizes NAU’s network of international partnerships and affiliates to provide global research and internship opportunities to students to help them meet their academic and professional goals.
  • The Global Virtual Internship Program provides career-based global learning opportunities for students who are place bound. With this initiative, NAU achieved the goal of making at least one credit-bearing global learning opportunity available for every student.
  • “Academically Integrated, Culturally Sensitive Mentoring System” provides an infrastructure for students from different cultures to learn from each other through intercultural competency development focused programming.
  • The NAU-High School Momentum Study Abroad program allows high school students to take 6 credits while studying abroad the Summer before their first Fall semester at NAU.
