Continuing Education (CE) partners with academic units to develop and deliver programs. CE programs can help academic units recruit degree-seeking students, deepen connections with industry partners, develop their brand in the workforce, and generate resources.
NAU academic units are responsible for academic content and some student recruitment, while CE is responsible for administrative responsibilities.
Continuing Education responsibilities
- MOU with academic unit
- Marketing including flyer development, mass emails, and coordination with Alumni Engagement
- Program webpage
- Develop canvas shells
- Student registration via Catalog
- Permission forms and policies for under-18 programs
- Collect student payments
- Overall budget management including determining instructor pay per NAU policies
- Student housing and meals if applicable
- Manage contracts if applicable
- Communicate with students regarding administrative issues
- Issue badges and non-credit certificates
- Work with college to facilitate instructor pay
- Determine program price
Academic unit responsibilities
- Identify course delivery expenses
- Assign and if needed hire faculty
- Student recruitment – it is critical that academic units leverage industry connections to recruit students
- Develop and deliver course content
- Communicate with students regarding academic issues
- Course evaluations
- Evaluate Prior Learning Assessment if applicable
- Classroom space if applicable
