TrueBlue Summer Fridays
Dear Lumberjacks,
NAU is committed to fostering a healthy, fulfilled, and mission-driven workforce. As we begin to see the warm days of summer in our future, I am pleased to share the plan for TrueBlue Summer Fridays in 2024 and beyond.
In short, after two successful pilot years, where we reflected on and refined our approach, TrueBlue Summer Fridays will remain a standard part of NAU’s workplace practices and culture!
The core features of the program are as follows:
- Default status for operations during summer months will be a four-day workweek, Monday through Thursday (closed on Fridays), with exceptions approved by Vice Presidents based on critical business and service needs for individual units.
- Adjusted full-time weekly hours of employee accountability for TrueBlue Summer Friday weeks is 36 hours (4×9-hour days), reduced from 40 hours during the rest of the calendar year.
- TrueBlue Summer Fridays begin the week after Commencement and end two weeks before classes start. For 2024, the four-day operating schedule will begin the week of May 13 and a five-day operating schedule will resume the week of August 12.
Moving forward, you will see an annual reminder message from Human Resources confirming TrueBlue Summer Friday dates each year. I encourage you to visit their TrueBlue Summer Friday website for more information about the program, including frequently asked questions, building signage templates, and more.
This program is a clear demonstration of our university’s commitment to employee health, well-being, and productivity as we work to advance our mission and deliver exceptional services and a relentless welcome to support the aspirations of every student we serve.
I look forward to a strong finish to our academic year and am thankful for all you do to elevate the excellence of NAU.
In partnership,
José Luis Cruz Rivera
President
