NAU financial aid disbursement
Financial aid disbursement is the process of financial aid (scholarships, grants, loans, etc.) being released to your LOUIE account to pay for tuition and other university charges.
Order of charges paid
Financial aid disbursement will first cover tuition and fees and, if applicable, housing and then meal plan. If your aid is greater than your charges owed to the university, you will receive a refund from Student Departmental and Account Services. You can sign up for direct deposit through LOUIE, under Finances > Edit Direct Deposit. Otherwise, a paper check will be mailed to your address on file in LOUIE.
Financial aid disbursement timeline
Financial aid disbursements occur Monday through Saturday during each semester, starting on the first official disbursement day. Please be sure all outstanding To Do List items are complete in LOUIE. Some items may prevent your aid from disbursing.
If you are a first time loan borrower at Northern Arizona University, please allow 3-5 business days for your loans to disburse after completing Entrance Counseling and the Master Promissory Note.
Refunds will be generated by Student and Departmental Account Services after disbursement every Tuesday and Thursday. If you signed up for direct deposit, please allow a minimum of 48 business hours after either Tuesday or Thursday to be reflected in your bank account. If the refund is mailed, it can take up to two weeks.
