How the College of Nursing supports Indigenous communities

Commitment to Indigenous health and education

NAU is deeply committed to supporting Indigenous and Native American communities. In the College of Nursing, we focus on eliminating health disparities and improving health equity for Indigenous populations. By forging strong partnerships with these communities, we aim to boost the enrollment and graduation rates of Native American students, providing an education that respects and honors cultural traditions.

Championing health equity and community engagement

Our graduates are poised to become community leaders, improving lives and healthcare quality in the Indigenous communities they serve.

Nurturing success for Indigenous students

We go above and beyond to support Indigenous student success inside and outside the classroom, making every student feel valued in their nursing journey.

Unique pathway to nursing for Native American students

The College of Nursing’s American Indian Program (AIP) is the first pathway to an entry-level nursing degree for Native Americans. We also offer coursework in advancing health equity.
