KAPLAN admission exam

NAU School of Nursing

The KAPLAN admission exam score is used for screening and ranking of undergraduate nursing applicants. You may only take the Kaplan exam once per application cycle. The exam must be completed in the cycle for which you are applying. We will no longer accept Kaplan exams from previous testing cycles, and the exam needs to be completed by the application deadline.

Scheduling the KAPLAN admission exam Accordion Closed

For students in the Flagstaff area

  1. Contact the NAU Counseling and Testing Center (by email or at 928-523-2358) to schedule the Kaplan admission exam. There is a proctor fee that is due at the time of scheduling.
  2. Send an email to Nursing@nau.edu with ADMISSION EXAM in the SUBJECT line. Please indicate your name, the date you are scheduled to take the exam, and that you are taking it at the NAU Testing Center.
  3. You will receive a confirmation email from Nursing@nau.edu; print and keep a copy of this confirmation to take with you to the testing center.
    Testing sessions are by appointment only. Proctor fee/testing fee is required at the time the appointment is made. You must bring two forms of ID, including at least one photo ID, in order to take the exam.

Students may take the exam only once per application cycle.

Test content Accordion Closed

The test consists of 91 questions for a total of 165 minutes. The breakdown is as follows:

Reading – 22 questions; 45 minutes
Math – 28 questions; 45 minutes
Writing – 21 questions; 45 minutes
Science – 20 questions, 30 minutes

It is important to schedule the exam in advance to ensure a seat is available.
