Getting started with nursing prerequisites

Before embarking on your nursing education at NAU, you’ll need to meet certain prerequisite coursework and requirements. Courses can be completed at Northern Arizona University or another accredited institution.

Explore undergraduate nursing prerequisites

Step 1. Apply to Northern Arizona University.

Start by applying to NAU. You will need to secure your admission to NAU before applying to our College of Nursing.

Step 2. Connect with an academic advisor.

Early engagement with an advisor is key. Your advisor will help you navigate through the pre-nursing requirements and ensure you’re on track for your nursing application.

Step 3. Complete nursing requirements.

Follow the tailored guidance from your advisor to complete the required prerequisites. If you are transferring credits from another school, they will also help you ensure that your credits are transferable and that you are on track to apply.

Step 4. Apply to the College of Nursing.

If you’ve met all academic and preparatory requirements, you are ready to apply. Your application to the nursing program is separate and should be approached with care.
