Happy 4th of July!! I know the campers, staff, and I all were excited for the day’s festivities. Campers today had a condensed schedule for the holiday, where they attended sectionals and had a little free time to play games or prepare for the day. After classes, it was time for the annual Summer Games! It was very exciting for me and my partner, Callie, because we were the only team to be led only by CITs! Go Car-lie’s Catastrophic Tsunamis!!! I love the Summer Games because everyone comes together as a team, shows good sportsmanship, and makes some new friends. We had six games for 12 teams of campers led by counselors: cup stackers, obstacle course, Cheeto Stick, charades, human ring toss, and water relay! First year camper and member of Caryn-J’s Crazy Cyclones, Ivan, talked to me a bit about his first Summer Games. According to Ivan (pictured below), his favorite event was “Cheeto Stick, because I got to put shaving cream all over my face”! Ivan also says “it was a super fun experience, whether we won or lost”.
The final results for the Summer Games were the following: Jeffrey’s Jagged Cliffs in 3rd, Ruben’s Rumbling Rocks in 2nd, & Jenni’s Jumping Flames in 1st place!! The campers all did a great job in their games and with their spirit!
After the Summer Games and Dinner, our campers had an activities night in the Music Building. This included movies, video games, card games, arts & crafts, and BAD Bingo! I was one of the heads for Spicy Uno, which is like regular Uno with extra sets of rules to add some spice! I hope the campers had as much fun as I did!
We then headed back to the dorms for the pancake dinner! Tons of campers enjoyed delicious chocolate chip red, white, & blue pancakes made by our very own counseling staff and got to celebrate 4th of July with each other! I sat down with second year campers, Samantha & Kira, to ask them about how they liked their 4th of July this year.
Me: What encouraged you two to participate in the Pancake Dinner again this year?
Kira: Because not only did I like chocolate and I wanted to spend the fourth of July with my friends!
Me: Did the pancakes exceed your expectations in regards to its patriotic design?
Samantha: I think the red white and blue pancakes are cute and add a nice touch.
Me: Overall, did you have a fun day?
Kira: It was the perfect end to a great 4th of July celebration! (Samantha agreed)
The campers sure had a great 4th of July at Curry Summer Music Camp and we were excited to have them!! Thank you junior campers for your energy & positive attitude on this Independence Day!
