Pedagogy (Suzuki Violin), Undergraduate Certificate

The Pedagogy (Suzuki Violin) Undergraduate Certificate is a comprehensive study of the philosophy, repertoire, and practical applications of the Suzuki approach to learning.

The program offers the rigorous study of pedagogical concepts as related to violin performance and teaching. Classes and fieldwork in teaching prepare the student for communication, leadership, and organizational skills needed in a professional setting.

  • To receive an undergraduate certificate (at least 15 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0.

    Please be aware that federal financial aid is not available for some certificates, if the certificate is pursued and completed as a stand-alone certificate (i.e., not completed concurrently with a degree program). See the "Details" tab for additional information.

Additional Admission Requirements
  • Individual program admission requirements over and above admission to NAU are required.

  • To complete this certificate you must be a declared Music Major.
Certificate Requirements
  • Take the following 15 units with a Grade of "C" or better:

    • MUS 407, MUS 407L (8 units)
    • MUS 490 (1 unit). Students complete the Music Mind Games Topic.
    • MUS 496 (3 units)
    • Select one from (3 units):
      • EPS 340, EPS 580
      • ECI 305
  • This certificate may only be pursued and completed concurrently with a degree program. This certificate is not available as a stand-alone certificate.
