Macintosh Product Downloads

These downloads are for NAU Faculty and Staff to use on NAU owned machines. Our current licensing includes home-use rights allowing Faculty and Staff to take copies home for use on personally owned computers. Full and Partial support only applies to NAU computers on campus. NAU related work or software support at home is limited to phone support.

Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

Minimum requirements: 

  • Intel processor
  • 1 GB memory
  • 5 GB available disk space

Software Download Size: 5.69GB

Software can be obtained from: 

On a Windows machine click on Start > Run and type or paste the following:
\\naushares.ucc.nau.edu\AppleSoftware\OSX 10.6 

  1. On a Macintosh machine click on Go > Connect to Server 
  2. In the "Connect to Server" dialog box, type or paste the following:
    smb://naushares.ucc.nau.edu/software/mac/os/OSX 10.6
  3. A login box will appear. Enter information as follows:
    • Username = NAU\username (e.g. abc123)
    • Password = your NAU password
  4. Click OK and the drive will open.

Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)

Minimum requirements 

  • x86-64 CPU (Macs with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, or Xeon processor.)
  • At least 2GB of RAM
  • Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later (Mac OS X 10.6.8 is recommended)
  • 7 GB of free hard drive space is recommended
  • AirDrop is supported on the following Mac models: MacBook Pro (late 2008 or newer), MacBook Air (late 2010 or newer), MacBook (late 2008 or newer), iMac (early 2009 or newer), Mac mini (mid 2010 or newer), Mac Pro (early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card and mid 2010 or newer).

Software can be obtained from: 

On a Windows machine click on Start > Run and type or paste the following:
\\naushares.ucc.nau.edu\software\mac\os\OSX 10.7 

  1. On a Macintosh machine click on Go > Connect to Server 
  2. In the "Connect to Server" dialog box, type or paste the following:
    smb://naushares.ucc.nau.edu/software/mac/os/OSX 10.7 
  3. A login box will appear. Enter information as follows:
    • Username = NAU\username (e.g. abc123)
    • Password = your NAU password
  4. Click OK and the drive will open.
    • Open the DMG file located on the NAU Shared drive
    • When the DMG file opens drag the Install Mac OS X Lion onto  your desktop
    • Double click Install Mac OS X Lion off of your desktop
    • When the Mac OS X Lion install window opens Click Continue
    • You will need to Agree to the license agreement to continue
    • Select the drive you want to install Lion on
    • Click Install

Minimum requirements

    • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum or Early 2009 or newer)

    • Xserve (Early 2009)

    • The OS installer is stored in the OSX 10.8 folder in two forms, an application and a disk image. To upgrade existing systems running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) or Lion (10.7.x) to Mountain Lion, copy the “Install OS X Mountain Lion.app” application into the Application folder of the target system and then run it. (Do not run the installer from the network share, your install will fail) The installer requires an Internet connection on the target machine.
    • To install using the disk image open the DMG file located on the NAU Shared drive
    • When the DMG file opens drag the Install Mac OS X Lion onto  your desktop
    • Double click Install Mac OS X Lion off of your desktop
    • When the Mac OS X Lion install window opens Click Continue
    • You will need to Agree to the license agreement to continue
    • Select the drive you want to install Lion on
    • Click Install
