ITS Training Lab Policy

The Learning & Professional Development (LPD) team within ITS manages the ITS Computer Lab for the training of faculty and staff. While this lab is primarily for our own training purposes, we do allow ITS and other departments to utilize the lab while not in use. Because the lab is located in a security sensitive building, we cannot allow students to use the lab in an academic capacity.

A request to use our labs does not guarantee a lab reservation and we reserve the right to refuse anyone access to our labs.

Requesting the Lab

The ITS Computer Lab has an Outlook calendar which you can use to view the availability. DO NOT submit your request through Outlook. Please use the Lab Request Form.

Please include the following information:

  • The primary contact for this request
  • The purpose for scheduling the lab
  • The number of seats needed
  • The date(s) and time(s)
  • Any additional needs

Once the request is submitted we will respond to your request within 1 business day.

We typically do not schedule the labs on Fridays, as this day is reserved for maintenance but we will make accommodations if necessary.

All lab reservations will be scheduled a half hour before the requested start time for the reservation. This time is to ensure the instructor has time to prepare the lab and be there for anyone who shows up early to the reservation. Whoever is responsible for the lab reservation should be present for this half hour period.

A member of LPD will be present at the scheduled start of your reservation. If you are going to arrive late or you need to cancel your reservation, please contact the LPD team as soon as possible so that we may adjust our schedules accordingly.

You cannot cancel a lab reservation from your calendar. Only members of Learning & Professional Development can add, change, or delete reservations. If you need to cancel a reservation, please email us at or call 3-8938.

Food and Drink

We do allow food and drinks in our labs; however, we ask to keep all beverages in a container with a lid that prevents spills. We also ask that any other messes be cleaned before you leave.

Instructor Responsibilities

MyTraining Responsibilities

If you would like your training to be listed on the MyTraining site and give learners the ability to sign up for your training online, please mention this in the lab request form, or send us an email at

If you choose to list your course on the MyTraining site, we ask that you actively manage your session's attendance via the Instructor Portal at This process includes keeping an up-to-date roster and marking attendance at the conclusion of your training event. Trainees receive a transcript of all attended trainings, so marking attendance is critical to their professional development process.

A member of the LPD team can show you how to access and manage your attendance.

Physical Lab Repsonsibilities

Prior to the lab reservation, we request that someone associated with the reservation be present for the half hour block before the requested reservation time. During this time, it is your responsibility to prepare the lab for your needs. This preparation time will also be used for LPD assistance in setting up special requests, such as teleconferences.

A member from LPD will be present at the start and end of your scheduled reservation. If you are going to arrive late or you need to cancel your reservation, please contact the LPD team as soon as possible so that we may adjust our schedules accordingly.

In order to maintain the cleanliness, security, and functionalities of our labs, we ask that every instructor go through this small checklist before leaving the lab.  Failure to do so may result in denial of future lab requests.

  1. Leave the lab in the same state in which you entered it.
  2. Make sure all accounts are logged out.
  3. Turn off the projectors.
  4. Pick up any trash or other messes that are left behind.
  5. If you used the whiteboards, please erase them.
  6. Turn off the lights.
  7. Shut the doors behind you.

Lab Cancellations

If you need to cancel your lab reservation, please e-mail us as soon as possible at or call 3-8938. Deleting the calendar event from your calendar does NOT cancel the reservation.
