This IHD Diversity Fellowship offers graduate level students from underrepresented groups the opportunity to acquire leadership skills in the area of disability studies, practice, cultural and linguistic competence, and administration. The fellowship is part of an effort to ensure the field of disabilities includes professionals from diverse groups in leadership roles. This fellowship provides an annual stipend to one student for the first year with possible additional funding available for a second year.
Students from programs typically associated with disability (Education, Physical Therapy, Speech/Language Pathology, etc.) are encouraged to apply as are students from programs not typically associated with disability but who have an interest in extending their skill set to include a disability perspective (Criminology, Educational Technology, and a Business Administration, to name a few).
- Must be a first year, full-time, campus-based (Flagstaff), graduate level student in good standing
- Must be from an underrepresented group
- Requires one year of commitment with possibility of a second year
- Requires a brief application and 2 references from applicant’s academic department
