HA Overrides

HRM faculty members do not review or approve override requests for courses with prefix of HA.

If you need to enroll in a HA course, you may use the online override form if you meet at least one of the following conditions:

  1. You are not meeting the pre-requisite for the course. Transfer credit has not been posted or recognized by LOUIE to enroll for the course on your own. NOTE: you will have to provide proof of enrollment in the pre-requisite course before you will be granted an override for the course you are requesting.
  2. Your graduation will be delayed if you cannot complete the requested course in the upcoming semester. NOTE: these requests will be evaluated on a student by student basis.

If you do not meet the conditions listed above and the course does have a waitlist option, please add yourself to the waitlist of the section you would like to enroll. For more information about the class wait lists, please click here. Override requests that do not meet any of the conditions above will not be granted and slow the processing for students who have valid requests.

If you are needing an override into a course not offered by The W. A. Franke College of Business, you will need to contact that department directly for information on how to enroll.

After you submit your request:
You will receive an automated confirmation email that indicates we received your override request. Continue to check your e-mail and your LOUIE schedule daily after you submit the request. If we have all the information we need, we will add you to the requested class (this should happen within 2-5 business days). If we need additional information we will contact you by e-mail.

Overrides into Online Courses

The School of Hotel and Restaurant Management in The W. A. Franke College of Business, provides the major in Hotel and Restaurant management degree to statewide students. The online courses offered for this program is the only option for statewide students to take some required courses. In some cases these required courses are offered online only once each year, so a statewide student who does not get into the course would have to wait a full year for another opportunity. We are constrained by resource and quality issues as to the number of online courses we offer and the capacity of the online courses.

Accordingly, we must reserve all the seats in most online courses for statewide students. Exceptions to this policy will be made on an extremely limited basis through the override process. A conflict with work hours, in and of itself, will not be considered adequate justification to add a Flagstaff campus student to an online section. Generally, reserved online seats are made available three weeks before the start of semester. All summer online courses will be open to Flagstaff campus students during the summer session. Please check with an HRM advisor for a list of these courses.
