HRM Ambassadors and Concierges
At the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, we live our values. We want students to be engaged in the spirit of hospitality from their earliest days. We invite any interested student to become an HRM Concierge – even as a first year student! As the students gain experience, they are invited to apply to be an HRM Ambassador.
Our Concierge program introduces students to the front-line of hospitality. Students volunteer to work any number of hours at the School’s front desk. Students will answer phones, greet guests, answer questions, and give tours of our facility. Students will earn work hours toward their 1,200 required hours for their volunteer time at our front desk.
More experienced students are invited to apply to serve as HRM Ambassadors. The HRM Ambassadors act as liaisons between the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management and current and prospective students and their parents. They help train the Concierges and work no special projects for the School.
HRM Student Ambassadors are available for HRM students to use as a resource, assisting them with various aspects of their experiences at HRM such as class overrides, scholarship paperwork, and more. Ambassadors provide information and advice to continuing and prospective students and other visitors about
- HRM courses;
- HRM faculty;
- HRM degree and certificate programs.
Ambassadors help facilitate the Pathways events, Fireside Chats, and Discover NAU events. They escort prospective students and other visitors on building tours, help plan events like the hospitality career fair, and are the voice of students in HRM.
Our Ambassadors are an enthusiastic group who want to help make your HRM experience a great one. Learn a little more about each of our Ambassadors in their bios below.
Lindsey Kevorkian Accordion Closed
Hello HRM Students! I am Lindsey Kevorkian and I am majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Management with a minor in Business. I am also working towards two certificates one of which is in event planning and the other is in Hotel Management. I am currently a Junior here at NAU. This year will be my first year working with the Ambassador team. I cannot wait to work with my fellow students in making everyone feel comfortable and confident as they walk through our building!
I was born and raised in Chatsworth, California. Growing up I knew I wanted to work with people. I love being surrounded by others and serving guests. My family hosts most of our family functions, so I have grown up helping my mom host different functions. I chose to come to NAU because of the hospitality program. Everyone was very welcoming and wants the best for their students and I really value that. I am an active member in a greek life fraternity on campus, Chi Omega where I am the Alumna Director. I am also the Special Events Coordinator for the Associated Students of Northern Arizona University (ASNAU) here on campus. I like to be involved and grow more and more as a professional, and NAU and HRM have lots of opportunity for leadership growth. This year I will be going on a Summer Abroad Trip that is led by some of our faculty members here in HRM. I am interested in learning about the different cultures and lifestyles that others live, because those will be my customers one day! I want to be able to provide an environment for others to feel welcomed in an unknown place
I am excited for this position and cannot wait to work with faculty, students, and industry professionals. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach any one of us Ambassadors at HRM.Ambassadors@nau.edu and we will be happy to assist you! Or if you would like to contact me, you are more than welcome to email me at email@example.com as well! Our office is in the HRM building in room 104 so stop by, introduce yourself, and say hi!

Hello everyone, my name is Melisa Lundy and I am proud to say that I am an ambassador for the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management at Northern Arizona University. I am currently a sophomore working hard to get my Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, a minor in Spanish, and a certificate in International Tourism. I am from Denver, Colorado and I hope to one day become a Cruise Ship Director on a well-known cruise line. My biggest passions are people and travel so I have always known I wanted to go into the hospitality industry.
I absolutely love the HRM program at NAU and the relationships I create within this building. Everyone in this program is a family, and when you walk down the hallways you can feel that vibe. It is such a cozy environment and the people in this program, including faculty and staff, are what shape my time here at NAU and inspire my passion in this field. I would love to meet all of you and get to know you, so feel free to reach out and send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Stephanie Sorensen Accordion Closed
Hello HRM Students! My name is Stephanie Sorensen and I look forward to representing HRM as a Student Ambassador this year. I am a Sophomore working on earning my degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, with a minor in Business, and certificates in Hotel Management, Accounting, and Event Planning.
I was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark and moved to Phoenix, Arizona at 8 years old. Growing up in Europe exposed me to many different people and cultures. I believe this exposure has helped me grow both as a person, as well as a hospitality student. At 15 years old, I started my first job as a hostess for a local sports bar in Scottsdale. Almost immediately, I realized I loved helping customers and giving guests the best experience possible. Afterward, I was hired by Starbucks where I broadened my hospitality skills over the course of 2 years. Even though I worked my butt off at Starbucks, I worked even harder on my school work, allowing me to finish high school a year early.
While touring the city I fell in love with the small-town feeling of Flagstaff because it would occasionally remind me of the town I grew up in. I started my freshman year undecided, but after spending a few days in HA100 with Dr. McKeown I knew I wanted to work hospitality industry. My first semester of college was a scary, yet exciting shock for me because I came to realize how many opportunities I had to get involved in HRM. I began going to Pathways and loving what I was learning in my classes. I decided to get even more involved the following semester by pledging and joining Delta Sigma Pi, a business Fraternity, and applying to become a teacher’s assistant for ISM120. The close friendships and connections I made through these outlets will last a lifetime and help shape the professional I want to be.
It’s an honor to be a HRM Student Ambassador this year, where I hope to advise you all on your journey at NAU. It is my mission to help new students get as much out of their University experience as they can, and take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way. I am excited to help you achieve your professional and personal goals throughout this next year! Feel free to reach out to me during my office hours in HRM room 104, by email at email@example.com, or around campus.
