COVID-19 increases restaurant to-go ordering
Restaurants are rapidly adapting to increased demand for to-go ordering as more customers are opting to dine at home. Streamlining the to-go ordering process is important for employee efficiency and customer satisfaction. Macayo’s Mexican Restaurants (greater Phoenix, AZ area) operated by KIND Hospitality was seeking a to-go ordering platform that would take their operations to the next level.
Northern Arizona University alumnus finds a solution close to home
Nava Singam, an alumnus of NAU and owner of KIND Hospitality, learned of the new to-go ordering platform from Dr. Fred DeMicco, Executive Director of The Northern Arizona University School of Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM). The new system makes ordering easier on guests as well as Macayo’s team members as they navigate the recent uptick in to-go ordering. “In April, orders placed through our new system accounted for 30% of all of our sales,” said Singam.
The new system allows restaurants to easily accommodate customers electing for to-go ordering, and equips them to better address the new dining climate while fulfilling orders quickly and accurately.
Dr. Muhittin Cavusoglu, a professor at HRM, took the time to walk Macayo’s team members through using the new system. “This platform has been such an incredible asset for our organization, it’s taken our operations to the next level” said Ashley Negron, Director of Operations & Brand Management for Macayo’s. “It’s given us an edge over our competition with its quick easy navigation. Plus, the new technology’s easy implementation has been a morale boost amongst our team helping make their transition to this new normal as smooth as possible.”
Once a Lumberjack always a Lumberjack
During times of challenge there is often a strong need for networks of support. NAU HRM is passionate about building and maintaining strong relationships that turn into a powerful and supportive network throughout our graduate’s careers. In addition, our industry partners and alumni are dedicated to student success and student engagement.
“The team at NAU has been invaluable in terms of getting this off the ground and familiarizing our staff members with how it all works,” Singam said. “We’ve been humbled to see just how much NAU stays involved with former students, and by their commitment to going above and beyond to help Arizona businesses succeed.”
