Workshops on Wellness

Join us for the 1st annual Workshops on Wellness conference at Northern Arizona University. This innovative conference is learner-based and interactive—a true workshop approach. Workshops will be conducted by experts on a variety of topics including motivation interviewing, self-compassion, physical activity, marketing communications, and plant-based diets. With break-out sessions all day, you can choose the topics that matter to you most.
Workshops on Wellness is made for healthcare professionals, Registered Dietitians, public and allied health professionals, and personal trainers who want to improve their skills to enhance care. Continuing education credits will be available.
This activity qualifies for 7.5 CEUs. The Flagstaff Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Conference Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Participants will be able to list at least 3 physiological benefits of physical activity in cancer patients
- Demonstrate exercise modifications for cancer patients across the continuum of care.
- Describe best practices of communicating to lay audience.
- List effective marketing strategies to promote healthy behaviors.
- Describe the techniques and strategies used in motivational interviewing to improve client-centered care.
- List three open-ended questions that can increase patient and client motivation
- List the physiological principles and research support behind High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
- Participants will be able to identify micronutrient-dense, plant-based foods that are most beneficial for human health.
- Participants will be able to describe benefits of increasing self-compassion.
- Participants will complete self-compassion activities and know how to incorporate these activities into their own professional practice.
- Participants will develop strategies to gain rapport with patients or clients who identify as Navajo.
