Dr. Ricky Camplain is an Assistant Professor at Northern Arizona University Department of Health Sciences and a Researcher at the Center for Health Equity Research. Ricky earned a PhD in Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of New Mexico. As a Comanche woman, she has made a life-long commitment to serving diverse communities. Ricky is an expert in epidemiologic and quantitative methods in public health with extensive experience in data analysis, study design, prospective and retrospective cohort studies, and “big data”. Her research focuses on chronic disease prevention and health promotion with a primary focus on understanding the health needs of vulnerable populations including those in the criminal justice system. She is interested in developing creative ways through policy and built environment interventions in the correctional system to promote healthy behavior and social justice.
