The spring 2018 Career Exploration Day at the W.A. Franke College of Business was a great success. A total of 572 students attended and met with 84 different organizations, such as non-profits, government agencies, sports teams, accounting, professional service, insurance and social media firms.
Special shout out to the 30 NAU student athletes and 3 coaches who set up and broke down for the event in a record time of 29 minutes.
There were several new employers and student group alliances which made the weeks leading up to the Career Exploration Day exciting and productive. Ryan Searfoss brought in AT&T for the first Skype Mock Interviews which enable students to practice their interview skills, obtain feedback from the recruiters and gain confidence. We now have a total of five rooms outfitted for Skype interviews — four in the Career Development Office (CDO) and one in the Master’s Business Administration (MBA).That serviced a total of 8 companies participating in 112 mock interviews with students to prepare for the fair.
As a result, the recruiters were extremely impressed with the level of professionalism, preparedness and enthusiasm of the W.A. Franke business students. In addition, many recruiters, stated that NAU students were more prepared than students of other universities. Go Lumberjacks!
Thanks to all the volunteers and student workers who made the event possible: the graduating seniors in the CDO, Jordan, Jocelynn, Irving and Ryan; Mackenzie Klooster, Kaila Kawelo, and members of the Future Business Women of America (FBWA); Mackensie Garretson and the HRM Event Planning class, BLP and FCB Ambassadors with Bernadine Lewis; Melissa Pokorny, NAU Athletics and Chris Drake and the OAS team.
