All IT support is handled by NAU’s central Information Technology Services (ITS). We’ve listed information for common technical procedures below; if you have additional questions, you can reach ITS at 928-523-1511.
Remote access to FCB computing environment
VDESK is a server you can access at any time, from anywhere. It’s like being able to sit down in front of an FCB or HRM lab computer from anywhere in the world where you have an Internet connection. For detailed information about how to connect, please visit our Remote Desktop Services page.
Accessing FCB resources from home
The following instructions will help you connect to your FCB directories (K:, I: and J: Drives) from home. Before continuing, make sure you are connected to NAU VPN.
Windows PC Accordion Closed
- Right-click Computer (from your Start menu or from your Desktop), then click Map network drive
- In the Drive box, select an available drive letter
- In the Folder box, enter a path as shown below (substitute your user ID for ‘username’)

4. Un-check the Reconnect at logon check box
5. Check the Connect using different credentials check box
6. Click Finish
7. Enter your NAU\ username
8. Enter your password
9. Click OK
Mac Accordion Closed
- Open Network Preferences, click the VPN connection, and then click the Advanced button, making sure the option to “Send all traffic over VPN connection” is checked under the “Option” tab. Click OK.
- From the Finder’s Go menu, click “Connect to Server.”
- In the Server Address field, enter the address as shown below (substitute your username for ‘username’):

4. When prompted, enter your NAU\ username and password
5. Click the Connect button.
