Why are internships important?
Many companies have strong, well-established internship programs while some have assorted positions based on their needs. An internship is an on-site work experience that will last for a summer, a semester, or even a year. The length of time will be set by the company. Internships can be paid or unpaid. Most of the opportunities posted by The W. A. Franke College of Business are paid.
Among employers, 95% say they want to see hands-on, real work experience in our college graduates. Nearly half of these employers said they wanted the new-grad experience to come through internships and co-op programs. If you have completed an internship, you will have an edge over your classmates who have not.

Where can you find internship opportunities?
The Career Development Office lists internship opportunities on our website, on HANDSHAKE, and through our Facebook page. As our business partners have needs, we post them here. There are many additional resources on the internet to assist you in finding an internship. Our Pinterest page also has articles and information about internships.
Vault is a new tool that is available to Business Students. Vault has been top-ranked by the industry for the quality of its internship opportunities. Use the internship Ranking and Database to find annually available programs in industries around the world.
Once the student has secured an internship, they can enroll in the 408 Internship for Credit course by meeting with the Career Development Office in room 108 to complete the course paperwork. Enrollment for the course takes place during regular enrollment periods each semester and in the summer. To find out more, click here. Students must take the 408 Internship for Credit course concurrently with their internship.
