Internships and real-world experience

Employers want to see real work and hands-on experience in our Franke graduates, focusing on internships and co-op programs. If you have completed an internship, you will have an edge over your classmates who have not as you develop strong skills and applied expertise.

Many companies have strong, well-established internship programs while some have assorted positions based on their needs. An internship is an on-site work experience that will last for a summer, a semester, or even a year. The length of time will be set by the company. Internships can be paid or unpaid as well. Most of the opportunities posted by The W. A. Franke College of Business are paid. The Career Development Office lists internship opportunities on our website.

The Career Development Office lists internship opportunities on our website, on HANDSHAKE, and through our Facebook page. As our business partners have needs, we post them here. Our Pinterest page also has articles and information about internships.

Student Managed Investment Fund

The Student Managed Investment Fund was created in 2000, when a group of students was allocated $500,000 to invest at the stock exchange. Now, you can take FIN 441 and FIN 442 to help manage a portfolio of nearly $2 million.

FIN 441

The first half of the class, FIN 441, is focused on the equity portion of the portfolio.

FIN 442

The second half of the class, FIN 442, focuses on the fixed income portion.
